Bangkok Training Programs Target AI and Tourism Skills to Meet Employer Demand
Government budgets and partnerships are directing workers toward semiconductor, digital and service roles in the capital.

The Thai Ministry of Labour has set aside THB 6.9 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to train workers in AI, semiconductors and digital skills through partnerships with Microsoft and universities in Bangkok.
Employers in the capital face shortages in technical fields while tourism operators seek staff with specific service certifications. The new funding and agreements aim to match workers with those openings by expanding training capacity in the city.
Programs focus on Bangkok establishments
The Department of Skill Development plans to reach 4.64 million employees nationwide in 2026. Skill Development Institute 13 Bangkok will handle training for 1.8 million workers at 7,451 local establishments. Six agencies, including the Labour Ministry and Tourism Council, signed a three-year agreement in Bangkok to prepare 4,900 people for positions such as barista, bartender and massage technician.
The Ministry of Higher Education approved five new Sandbox university programs in 2025 that include semiconductor engineering, cybersecurity and railway systems. These courses target shortages identified by local industries.
Subsidies and tax measures support uptake
The Development and Promotion of Digital Economy Agency is rolling out a Digital Skill Roadmap that covers 67 million people. The plan includes tax deductions for businesses that invest in training and 70 percent cost subsidies for unemployed participants. Companies in Bangkok can use these measures to cover part of the expense when they send staff to approved courses at Institute 13 or partner universities.
Firms that review the Ministry of Labour guidelines on the Skill Development Fund can identify eligible programs and submit applications for the subsidies now available for the current fiscal year.
