How we reported this

The Thai Ministry of Labour has allocated a THB 6.9 billion budget for fiscal year 2026 to upskill workers in AI, semiconductors and digital skills, including partnerships with Microsoft for AI training in Bangkok and nationwide.
Fit4Work Initiative Ties Training to Local Employers
In August 2025 the Bangkok-based Ministry of Labour launched the Fit4Work: Skills Tailored for Employers initiative with GSPA NIDA to close the skills gap and align workforce development with real market demand. The Department of Skill Development targets training 4.64 million employees in 2026, with Skill Development Institute 13 Bangkok responsible for 1.8 million workers across 7,451 establishments.
Six agencies signed a memorandum of understanding in Bangkok to develop a skilled tourism workforce, aiming to train 4,900 people in courses such as barista work, Thai cooking and massage, with 3,344 already trained by mid-2025. The Ministry of Labour also launched five new upskilling courses in 2024-2025 for over 11,000 workers covering digital skills, AI, automation and robotics to support Eastern Economic Corridor investment, plus training for 3,000 high-skilled and self-employed workers.
Digital Skill Roadmap Expands Access Nationwide
The Digital Economy Promotion Agency implemented a Digital Skill Roadmap in 2025 to cover 67 million people, offering businesses a 250 percent tax deduction for training costs and subsidizing 70 percent of costs for students and unemployed individuals. These measures reshape the local talent market by matching training directly to employer needs in Bangkok's digital and service sectors.
Employers in Bangkok can contact the Department of Skill Development or Skill Development Institute 13 to access subsidized courses and register staff for the 2026 training cycle. Workers seeking AI or digital credentials should check eligibility through the Fit4Work portal or depa channels for cost-sharing support.
