ICS Athletics Builds Stronger Bangkok Student Community Through Year-Round Sports

International Christian School Bangkok fields teams in soccer, volleyball, basketball, badminton, swimming, cross country and track through its athletics department, giving students repeated chances to train and compete together in the city.

The program runs four distinct seasons from August through June, allowing participants at elementary, middle and high school levels to stay involved year-round while balancing academics and personal growth.

Seasons structured for steady participation

First season covers August to November with high school soccer and volleyball, middle school basketball, elementary soccer and cross country across all divisions. Second season shifts to November through February for high school and elementary basketball plus middle school volleyball and swimming at every level. Third season from February to April adds high school and elementary badminton, middle school soccer, track for all ages and continued swimming. Fourth season from April to June focuses on swimming, intramurals, elementary volleyball and middle school badminton.

Teams compete in the Bangkok Metropolitan Schools Athletic Conference and the Asia Christian Schools Conference, which set rules and promote sportsmanship among member schools in the region.

Focus remains on character and belonging

Athletics director Jack Barr Jr. has said the goal is for student-athletes to leave with a sense of family, where lessons about loving others matter more than wins or losses. The department frames its work around holistic development that includes physical skills, self-discipline, servant leadership and life skills within a Christian setting.
